You Say
You say it as if you want me
When we all know that you don't
You treat me like a trophy
Gold that glistens in the dark
You say it as if you need me
But we all know that you can't
You still think I'm your torch
Stood here burnt right out
You say it as if you'll love me
When we both know that you won't
You're trying to fill the chasm
Full of years null and void
You say it as if I'll stay here
But we both know that I shan't
You kicked open the flood gates
Your little bird flew right out
Love this poem! It seems very Lady Merry Wroth-esque. One of my favorite poets! Keep up the good work. ;-)
